Why City Council?
Jacksonville City Council is the logical next step to the volunteer work Tyrona "Ty" has done since 2016 through the Northwest Citizens Planning Advisory Committee (NWCPAC). She works to bridge the divide between local government and neighborhoods in Planning District 5 consisting of City Council Districts 8,9, and 10.
Furthermore, Ty has proposed projects benefiting District 9. As NWCPAC Chair, she told City Government about the Orchard Street Bridge. It was in disrepair (See Photo).After conducting a study, the Public Works Department repaired the structure, resurfaced the road,and improved the striping. Previously, the street and its intersection were confusing to pedestrians and drivers creating numerous safety hazards.
